The East Grand Rapids Schools Foundation is seeking nominations for theExcellence in Teaching Award and Vi-Chem Award.

The Excellence in Teaching Awards and Vi-Chem Award are ways for you to honor and thank that amazing teacher who has made a difference in your child’s life.

Through the Excellence in Teaching Award, the East Grand Rapids Schools Foundation awards $1,000 each to two teachers, one at the Elementary level and one at the Secondary level. These awards recognize and encourage superior professional effort to improve instruction. The Vi-Chem award recognizes excellence in teaching of science, mathematics, or technology. This is a $1,500 award given to one elementary or secondary teacher of the above subject areas. The awards are presented each year at the opening meeting for staff in August.

To nominate a teacher, please complete a nomination form available in your school office or at www.egrsf.org. Submit the application online or download the nomination form and send it to the Foundation office at Woodcliff. The deadline is MAY 15, 2012. A committee comprised of representatives from the Foundation and teachers from the elementary and secondary schools will review all nominations and select the recipients for 2012.
